I restored this 1979 CR250 to look like Marty Smith's RC from the glory days. When purchased two years ago, the bike had a seized clutch and swingarm bolt and several other typical issues. Everything was redone and some upgrades were added to complete the RC effect such as bigger forks, Fox ring for the airbox, Fox Airshox, Oury grips and for comfort/safety, modern footpegs (2002 CR).
Some smaller components were handmade due to unavailability. I rebuilt the kick starter to obtain the original snap positioning. All of the plastic is original from several bikes. Number 9 decals will be put on as per the Smith RC.
The bike sounds pretty cool and will be ridden at a few annual vintage events starting in 2010.
