This is my 1979 Honda CR 250 Elsinore. I had Ray Sommo ride this bike for me recently (November 3rd) at the Vintage Iron World Championships. Yes we smoked'em! You Can read about it in the November 28th Cycle News, "Sommo Sucks It Up" article.

I originally built the bike for my own pleasure. The longer I had it around the more I wanted someone to race it to it's abilities. I thought the V.I. event would be a great coming out for my bike. I looked around for a rider and Ray was working at Performance Motor Sports in San Juan Capistrano. He was more than happy to ride the Red Rocket at the event.

The bike was better than new is many ways! Excell rims, new DG pipe and Mikuni Carb. Re-built Fox Airs and 1983 CR 480 forks. Ray hole shotted this bike and was a half lap ahead before he "Sucked it Up".

Ray actually rode my 1979 CR 125 in the second moto "September 2005 Bike of the Month" against the bigger 250's. Again the same outcome. Ray hole shotted and won by half a lap!

Ray will be riding both these bikes in upcoming AHRMA events.
