Post subject:  CR125 Vintage Modifications

To set up my question: I have a couple "restored" Elsinores. I am a mechanic at a Hon, Suz, Yam dealer. I've worked as a mechanic for a National pro rider. I like building vintage bikes and I like modifying modern bikes too. I have a Yamaha 4stroke with lots of trick parts and mods.

Anyway, I'd like to build a modified CR125 with just period parts and mods. No perfect FMF bike or anything, just trick stuff. I have a 77 CR125 that I'd like to use. I'm sure there are better bikes to use, but this one is available (read: paid for!).

Now here's my real problem! I'm just a "youngster" and I can barely remember these late 70s bikes from when my brother raced. So maybe some of you seasoned vets can help my project with some ideas! What did you do to these back in the day? Swingarm, Reed valve, pipe?

Feel free to email pics or just laugh and shake your head. Thanks for your input, tomh.
